I love horses and drawing them. I own several books of horse photographs. I am very sorry to say this but this book is trash. Most of the pictures are merged with other pictures. But not in a nice way, instead it's as if a beginner in Photoshop had done it in a rush. This means that it's almost impossible to appreciate any of the photographs.
BUYER BEWARE, THE COVER IS NOT REPRESENTATIVE OF THE BOOK!!
The picture on the cover is one of maybe a handful that shows the entire horse, and one of the few that has not been superimposed over another picture.
If the book contained more pictures like the cover I would not have reason to complain.
In addition, the poetry that appears in almost every page seems to be just google search results of poems with the word "horse" in it. They don't add anything to the images. Maybe a handful of poems are worth reading, but the rest are terrible.
Another problem is that a quarter of the pages have just text. Basically the last quarter of the book does not contain any images at all.
So I do not recommend this book at all if you are looking for nice photographs.

Robert Vavra's Horses of the Sun also made a beautiful addition to my granddaughter's library on horses and photography. The poetry and elegant production quality was greatly appreciated and appealed to her romantic and artistic sensibility.
My granddaughter loves it! I'm going to order one for myself....beautiful artwork...anyone who loves horses will love this book...great for the coffee table! Was delivered as promised...great packaging....
I have numerous of Robert Vavra’s books and this one did not disappoint. The photos are spectacular!
I was blown away at the pictures in this book and the very limited text (at the back of the book). I have never seen ANY of these beautiful pictures before. I bought it for a birthday gift to my neighbor & best friend, but after looking at it I will have to get one for myself! There need to be MORE stars to do justice to the rating of this book.
What a beautiful book for a horse lover. My 9 year old granddaughter was entranced with the poems and writing as well as the gorgeous full color photos. The condition was like new and seems to be a signed copy by the author and William Shatner who wrote the forward. I think I got a real treasure for a great price. A lovely book to be passed on to future horse lovers in the family. Worth 3 times the price.
Far exceed my expectations! Delivered faster than expected and the book itself is in incredible condition. Still can’t believe that I got a book of this quality for this price.
This book is full of incredibly beautiful photography of hot- and warm-blooded horses. I love to sit down and just look at the photos. My main complaints are that (in my opinion) the "poetry" which accompanies the photographs is silly and a distraction and that the large section at the back talking about each horse photographed could have been pared down a LOT to make room for more photographs! I didn't buy this book to read about why he selected a particular horse in great detail, nor to read imaginary horse-songs, but for the spectacular photographs.
