Man, this book was emotional! The character story arcs were, too! Striga is a lie factory, hates literature, and is basicaly a new era of Pure One. Otulissa, who almost gets fatally injured in the final (?) battle with Striga. The overuse of the word vanity, which drove me insane. The Blue Feather Club, who were tricked into book burning (and even attemped owl burning) with Striga. The Band, who "write" a series of fake letters that have treasonous words in them. Coryn, who also gets tricked into joining the B.F.C. and actually SUPPORTED the book burnings for most of the time. Bell, who almost gets killed in the final (?) battle with Striga, her "friend". There's so much more I could say, but I won't, because you could be spending this time READING THE EPIC BOOK I'M TALKING ABOUT! So yeah, this one gets a perfect 10/10 in my book.Tags : Exile (Guardians of Ga'hoole, Book 14) [Kathryn Lasky] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers.
Sometimes the enemy comes from within...

The Striga, former dragon owl from the Middle Kingdom beyond the Unnamed Sea,Kathryn Lasky,Exile (Guardians of Ga'hoole, Book 14),Scholastic,0439888085,9780439888080,Fantasy & Magic,Exile (Punishment),Fantasy,Good and evil,Kings and rulers,Kings, queens, rulers, etc,Owls,Action & Adventure - General,Animals - Birds,CHILDREN'S FICTION FANTASY,Children's BooksAges 9-12 Fiction,Children: Grades 4-6,Fantasy & magical realism (Children's Teenage),JUVENILE FICTION Action & Adventure General,JUVENILE FICTION Animals Birds,JUVENILE FICTION Fantasy & Magic,Juvenile Fiction,Juvenile FictionAction & Adventure - General,Juvenile FictionAnimals - Birds,Juvenile Grades 4-6 Ages 9-11,MASS MARKET

Grand Daughter Love's These Book's
This book is awesome. The author details. At. some points I felt as if I was there. U should read this book
My son fell in love with this series and of course it is a pleasure to see him read with so much passion. The only thing I don't like about this is that he disappears as soon as he gets it and I don't see him until he is done!
My son started out reading this series but - being a very avid reader myself - I read the first book in this series to 'check out' what he was reading. I got 'hooked'. Super story line and very interesting books. Kathryn Lasky is a fabulous writer.
My 9 year old daughter loves these books!
The lead up to the last book in the series, it portrays the constant fight between good and evil. Evil that is not evident, but that somehow sneaks into our lives, little by little, lie by lie and often from many different sources. It would be a great book to read with your children as you discuss the many different aspects of choices that lead to consequences, good or bad.
We stumbled upon a bookstore going out of business (sad) and picked up most of the Guardians of Ga'Hoole series of books, and turned to to fill in the gaps. There are 15 books in the series plus a Guide book.
My grandson is 9 years old and he loved the Guardians of Ga'Hoole movie. He was with me looking for some books to read for school - they are assigned to do private reading every day and track the minutes spent reading, which has really increased his skill and enjoyment - and when he spotted these books, they are on a very good close-out sale, so we bought all they had. But when I bought the fill-in books, was also having a sale on them, so we didn't break our budget too badly.
My grandson is currently on book two of this 15 book series, so has not yet read this one, book 13, but he is raving so much about book one and now book two that I have no trepidation in endorsing book 13. He said to me just yesterday how much better the books are than the movie (something I think is often true about adult books/movies).
His cousin, who is a couple years older is also reading this series of books and loves it as well, so clearly it has a good age appeal for young people. Having raised sons, I know that finding books young boys enjoy reading is more challenging than finding similar books for girls. I am so pleased to find these books that are igniting the love of reading in my grandson. But these books would be equally entertaining for girls, in my opinion, if the girl is not already too set on the path of thinking adventures are not their cup of tea!!
